Common Questions

Everything You Need to Know About Brain Matters Here.

A psychoeducational evaluation focuses on identifying academic challenges and learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and ADHD. It typically includes cognitive testing, academic achievement, and behavioral screening.
A school neuropsychological evaluation goes deeper by examining how brain function impacts learning, behavior, and emotional development. It includes an in-depth analysis of memory, processing speed, executive functioning, attention, and more. At Brain Matters, we help you choose the right assessment based on your child’s needs.

We provide educational evaluations and consultations to individuals from birth through age 22, young adults (18–25), and adults (25+) for educational-related purposes.

Our evaluations are designed to inform Individualized Education Plans (IEP), 504 plan teams, and families about supports, recommendations, and interventions on how to best support the child.

Absolutely. Nahomi Rosas is a native Spanish speaker and has completed a bilingual certification through UC Berkeley. Evaluations and reports can be conducted in Spanish, ensuring language and cultural accuracy for families from diverse backgrounds.

The process typically includes:

• A parent consultation

• Review of educational and medical records

• One-on-one testing sessions with your child

• Teacher input (when applicable)

• A comprehensive written psychoeducational report

• A final meeting to review results and recommendations

We take a collaborative, compassionate approach to ensure you feel supported and informed every step of the way.

The entire process usually takes 3–5 weeks from intake to final report, depending on the complexity of the referral and testing needs. We work efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of care and precision.

Yes. After the assessment, we offer follow-up consultations to help you understand the results and assist with the implementation of the report recommendations at home or in school.

At this time, Brain Matters operates as a private pay practice. However, we can provide you with a superbill that you may submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement, depending on your out-of-network coverage.

The cost of a comprehensive educational psychology evaluation typically ranges from $1,500 to $4,000 USD, depending on the type of assessment, the complexity of the case, and the specific needs of the individual. A personalized quote will be provided following an initial consultation.
