How we collect, use and protect your information.

This policy explains what information Brain Matters collects through thisbrainmatters.com, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Who we are
Brain Matters provides bilingual educational psychology evaluations and related services in California. You can reach us at info@thisbrainmatters.com or +1 (858) 371-9505.
Information you give us
- Contact forms: your name, email, phone number and message.
- Appointment booking (Calendly): your name, email and the answers you give when you book.
- Parent and Teacher Questionnaires (Fillout): information about a child’s development, learning, behavior and school history. It may include health or educational information.
- Payments (Stripe): Stripe processes card payments. We never see or store your full card number.
- Emails and calls: whatever you choose to tell us.
Information collected automatically
- Necessary cookies keep the site secure, make forms and booking work, and remember your cookie choice.
- Statistics (Google Analytics), only if you accept them in the cookie banner: pages visited, time on the site, device type and approximate location. Google Analytics does not store your IP address.
- Spam protection (Google reCAPTCHA) checks how forms are used to block automated spam.
- Server logs kept by our hosting provider, such as IP address, browser and date of the request, for security.
How we use information
- To answer your questions and schedule appointments.
- To provide evaluations, reports and follow-up services.
- To process payments and keep required business records.
- To protect the site from spam and misuse.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it, only with your consent.

We share information only with companies that help us run the site and our practice, and only for that purpose:

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect the safety of a child or another person.
Questionnaires and client information
What you share in the Parent and Teacher Questionnaires is used only to provide our evaluation services. We treat it as confidential client information, as required of Licensed Educational Psychologists and by California law. The questionnaire pages carry no statistics or advertising trackers.
Cookies and your choices
- When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept statistics cookies. Nothing beyond necessary cookies is used until you say yes.
- You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link on every page.
- If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we treat it as a “no” to statistics cookies.
- The Cookie Policy lists every cookie the site uses and what it is for.
Children
The site is meant for parents, guardians, educators and adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information directly from them. Information about a child comes from a parent or guardian, or from a teacher with their permission. If you believe a child sent us information directly, contact us and we will delete it.
How long we keep information
We keep information as long as we need it to provide our services, and client records as long as professional record-keeping rules require. Contact messages that do not lead to services are deleted when they are no longer needed.
Security
The site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS), access to client information is limited to our team, and our service providers protect the data they handle for us. No system is completely secure, so please do not send sensitive details through the general contact form; use the questionnaires or call us instead.
Your rights
- You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it or delete it. We will answer within the time the law requires.
- California residents: we do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing (California Civil Code § 1798.83).

Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date.
